Field Repair Clinic
180 Saint Paul Street, Rochester NY 14604
Saturday, September 4 at 3 p.m.
Saturday, October 16 at 3 p.m.
Sometimes your ride can be unexpectedly interrupted by more than just a simple flat tire. Bicycles are touted as simple machines, until it's actually time to fix them.
Bicycles have a lot of moving parts that can be vulnerable to their surroundings. Derailleurs get caught on sticks, potholes come out of nowhere, and don't forget about stray dogs (or other riders) who dart out in front of you! Knowing how to make simple repairs may be the difference between riding and walking home.
This clinic won't make you a master mechanic, but it will arm you with the knowledge to diagnose minor problems and get you back on your bike! The clinic will be mostly classroom style but you'll have opportunities for hands-on experience too. We encourage you to attend because the ride you save may be your own!
Shifting Clinic
180 Saint Paul Street, Rochester NY 14604
Saturday, October 23 at 3 p.m.
Shifting a bicycle's gears sounds simple enough, doesn't it? You just move the levers around until you're pedalling at a comfortable cadence, right?
The modern bicycle drivetrain is a marvel of mechanical engineering, yet for all of its sophistication we occasionally hear about the frustration people experience with shifting their bikes into the right gear. Excessive drivetrain problems can of course be caused by an improperly adjusted derailleur, but it is also important to realize that shifting a bicycle is more than a matter of simply moving the shift levers.
This clinic covers everything you ever wanted to know about shifting, and perhaps a bit more. If you've ever felt that your bicycle has a mind of its own when it comes to shifting, this clinic will teach you how to make every shift with with precision and finesse. Come ready to learn about soft pedalling, chainring engagement, chain alignment, and more!

All you need is a mountain or cyclocross bike, a helmet and the desire to have fun.
